Ms. Ferguson was called to the bar in 2019 after attending the University of Victoria Faculty of Law, where her studies focused primarily on criminal law. While at the University of Victoria, Ms. Ferguson served as Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Appeal Law Journal and completed a term at the Law Centre Clinical Program. Prior to that, she graduated from Trent University where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and received prizes for highest overall standing in her program.
After law school, Ms. Ferguson completed her articles at the British Columbia Supreme Court where she served as a judicial law clerk for six justices.
Following her call to the bar, Ms. Ferguson worked at a prominent criminal law firm in Toronto. In that role, she represented clients charged with a wide range of offences at trial and on appeal. She appeared at all levels of court in Ontario, and further represented clients at the Supreme Court of Canada. In addition to her criminal practice, Ms. Ferguson represented clients in various regulatory and professional discipline proceedings.
Ms. Ferguson later joined the Toronto East Crown Attorney’s Office as an Assistant Crown Attorney, wherein she conducted trials at both the Ontario Court of Justice and Superior Court of Justice on various Criminal Code offences.
